I don’t know about you but 2016 passed by so fast that I still needed the first weeks of January to catch up on few activities from last year.
I didn’t start the year feeling completely rested and full of energy. It’s not a surprise because I also chose to prioritize my work during the second half of the year due to the launch of my podcast.
It’s time to integrate more self-care and healthy habits to my routines. That’s why I already scheduled some time off for this year, and I will adapt my work accordingly.
If you would like to make important things happen in 2017, now is the time to plan for those changes if you haven’t done it yet.
Commit to taking action now
There is no secret recipe to live the life you desire. The only ingredient you need is to commit to taking action toward your important goals on a regular basis such as every week or every day.
Once you make your commitment, focus on how to make things happen instead of why you can’t do such and such.
Even if you set long-term goals, because we never know what could happen in a year from now, I would advise that you set intermediate goals such as what you would like to achieve within 90 days. It will help you get more concrete results.
If you’ve been following this podcast since last year, you know how I like to write things down.
Write down specific and measurable goals.
- “I will finish writing 50k words for my book by May 1st”
- “I will sell x number of my products by April 15″
Be proud of your goals.
Show up and let people know about your decision.
Once you set your goals and know how you will measure your progress, write down your different milestones in your calendar.

If you are not used to planning your days in advance, start simple with only one important task to accomplish every day.
Testing a new planner
I like to use agendas where I can schedule my tasks using blocks of 30 minutes.
This year, I’m testing the passion planner and I chose the compact size. The planner is smaller than what I was using those past years but at least I can carry it everywhere with me.
The planner allows you to write down your main focus for the day. You can also list your top priorities for the week.
My previous agenda also provided space to write down my top 3 priorities for the day, which I can’t do anymore with the passion planner. I will see if I miss that feature.
Schedule and review
Whatever agenda you use, schedule everything that matters to you.
Every evening, have a look at what you planned for the next day.
Can you imagine how happy you would be to get closer to your goal if you would take one step toward it every day?
I have two suggestions for you this week: first commit to working on your goal from now on. Second, get into the habit of scheduling your different action steps to get closer to your destination.
I know you can do it!
Let’s get into planning mode and until next time, keep moving forward.
